Subj: VideoCrypt

I was sent the jeremyb.net link about a week ago and
installed the software in the effort to fix some buggy
VideoForWindows drivers, thankfully the extra software
fixed the problems I was having with my Dynalink TView99
capture card, and as an added bonus allowed me to view the
Sky channels....

I was able to tune into Sky1 (for WWF RAW and
Smackdown!) as well as Sky Sport and Movies...

The image clarity was perfect and I had no trouble
getting it to run... a few simple clicks here and there
and it worked...

Ive since uninstalled the capture card but was
impressed that VideoCrypt is available and so easy to
use...

Oh well, at least i dont have to use the Sky Digital set
top box with the slow menus !

it is actually old hat to decode the sky signal, I've been
doing it for a while with mixed results.

Yes, it does decode the UHF signal, and yes, you can see
the picture. However, tv tuner quality is POOR, most people
could not stand watching such a rough picture at full
screen (It is fine at 320x240 pixels).

Another thing is that the decoding software usually can't
decode smoothly, the video picture jumps, flickers, and if
the screen is mainly black, with white writing (ie.:
credits at the end of a show) you can NOT watch it.

I actually got sick of this "free" option and subscribed to
sky for a better picture, and all over good viewage of sky
shows.

Subj: hvcplus for decoding sky

My machine is a bit gutless so I couldnt use the delay
loop, This apparantly fixes the occasiosional glitches that
it experiances every few seconds, Other then that the
picture was good, even tho the colouring was a bit iffy.

Provided a watchable picture for when the sports was on and
I wanted to use the PC, high CPU load tho ment the machine
became sluggish. In the end I ran a cable from the digital
box to the tuner card so I could use the card as it was
intended with no CPU useage.
