Reader Comments on e-Government -- Can We Trust Our Politicians?

From: John Carlisle
Thanks for your article on e-government. I could not agree
more. Unfortunately, the only predictable thing about
government, apart from their ability to do most things
badly, is their careless use of our money. Yet another
argument in favour of denying them the right to tax at
all.

In terms of value for money, taxation must be viewed
as, at best fraudulent, and at worst, outright theft. Until
we can make government truly accountable (for the way they
use our money), we should give them as little of it as
possible.

However, from where I sit, our passive
acceptance of all the financial depradations we suffer at
the hands of our unscrupulous politicians suggest we
deserve to be fleeced and fleeced again.

Why can't we
devise a system that gets at least some value for money?
If we got similar treatment at the hands of the private and
business sector we would be screaming blue murder and
looking for satisfaction in the courts.

Your comments are great, keep it up.
