Subj: IE vs netscape

I use IE simply because I'm lazy.. I'm no fan of M$, but
the simple fact is, with IE preloaded on systems, with ie
being the browser supported by most websites, etc, its just
too much damn effort to use netscape.. Unless I'm surfing
from X :-)

Subj: IE5 security vs Mickey Mouse

Ok Bruce, you're really starting to lose site of what
business is trying to accomplish vs. what inDUHviduals are
in need of...

First, you're right: There are a TON of security problems
in the IE5.x and Outlook family of products. BUT no more
so than most other products! It's just that people tend to
attack MS products more because there are more of them out
there! When you're the big boy on the block, people use
you to make a name for themselves.

On the other hand, I have five fingers. And these fingers
KNOW which buttons and settings to select and whether or
not to open an attachment with a .vbs on the end of it!

Yikes... Could it be that users need to be licensed just
like automobile drivers? Only with a higher standard?

One final point. MS-family of products are the big ones on
the block. How come nobody has bothered the AOL user base?
Now THERE is a group which has a large percentage of
nontechnically oriented users! Could it be that AOL
security is airtight? I doubt it. Most of their problems
come from USERS doing stupid things.

Tie it all together Bruce. I know you're smart enough to
take it from here.

I really enjoy your editorials... You get better at it each
day :)
