More on the Magic Magnetic Fuel Saver
30 March 2004

This morning, as I read today's edition of the NZ Herald online, I saw the surname name "Balasingham" appear on my screen.

The rusty cogs in my head began to spin and I recalled that I'd written a column about another gentleman with this surname and his magnetic fuel savers some three or four years earlier. (Although I broke this story on August 22, the mainstream media happily posted their own versions several days later without any attribution or credit being given -- as usual).

Indeed, at that time, a Mr Nathan Balasingham was crowing about how these wonderful devices (that he was importing and selling) were slashing fuel bills on a fleet of trucks operated by United Transport.

One Tony Bolderston (described by the Herald as the man "who runs United Transport's Pukekohe-based fleet of 35 trucks") was quoted by the Herald as saying that the device consistently cut 12 percent off his fleet's fuel bill.

At the time, Mr Nathan Balasingham was simply described as "a former DSIR scientist who lives in Pukekohe and has the NZ Rights to the American-made gadget".

So what was it about today's Herald that made me prick up my ears?

Well it according to this story from today's Herald, the managing director of United Transport is one Ajit Balasingham.

Could Ajit be related to Nathan?

Could one of Nathan's relatives been helping out a family member by encouraging an employee to come up with a seemingly independent yet glowing endorsement of a product which everyone (except the Hon. Jim Anderton) knows has been repeatedly proven to be nothing but a scam?

And why, if this thing really did save United Transport 12% on its fuel bill, haven't we seen it catapulted to fame and glory, driven by Jim Anderton's whole-hearted endorsement and the huge fuel savings that were to be had from its use?

Why hasn't Mr Balasingham shamed all those reputable universities and independent laboratories out of existance with his proof that these devices really work as advertised?
