News Commentary
In response to Don Brash's Orewa Rotary Club speech, Maori leaders claim that despite the best attempts of government, their people are still disadvantaged, die younger and are underrepresented.

If this is true, could it not be argued that Maori only have themselves to blame? Every NZer is offered the same opportunities but realising their full potential is entirely up to the individual.

Could Maori's biggest handicap be their own lack of motivation and self-esteem?
