Pulsejet Engine
Why Am I Selling?
A couple of years ago I started experimenting with pulsejet engines out of curiosity and with the goal of improving on a design that is more than half a century old. Many of my activities are documented on the pages of this site -- look around.

Suffice to say that I've succeeded in improving the power, durability and ease-of-use associated with these seemingly simple designs.

In order to help offset the not insignificant cost of the R&D involved in improving the basic designs, and in response to a huge amount of email from those who wanted to buy a modern pulsejet engine, I started manufacturing engines in small quantities.

Unfortunately I totally underestimated the demand and soon found myself in the embarrassing position of not being able to fill all the orders I'd received in anything like a timely fashion.

I also discovered that the amount of time I was spending on manufacturing was significantly slowing down my R&D activities -- so I'm looking to pass on the business to someone better equipped to build reasonable numbers of these things.

What am I Selling?
On offer are the exclusive world-wide commercial rights to the PJ8, PJ15 and PJ100 engines.

This will give the buyer total ownership of these designs -- allowing them to manufacture, license to other manufacturers and/or re-sell to any other party.

A non-compete clause is also included in the sales agreement which serves to provide further insurance of the value they are purchasing.

Along with the intellectual property, I will supply working models prototypes of the engines concerned, plans in PDF, DWG and DXF formats, all forms and templates, plus full constructional notes and documentation.

In addition, the buyer will receive full exclusive rights to promote and sell these engines through this website.

This site receives over 10,000 visitors a month (see the counter on the front page), each of which is clearly a qualified candidate to purchase these engines. Indeed, the sheer volume of sales which forced me to rethink the viability of manufacturing them myself was generated solely from this website. Since I stopped accepting new orders for engines I have received dozens of emails from people who want to buy and have asked to be advised when this will be possible -- all of those inquiries are included in the sale of the business.

I realize that a prospective buyer may be an engineering shop or keen individual with good fabrication skills but little or no knowledge of pulsejet engine theory or design. As a result, I'm including 100 hours of off-site consultation to answer any questions and help them with any problems they may encounter.

If the buyer wishes to construct their own online presence I will also offer my services along with access to relevant material (images, text, etc) from this site to assist them in this. Such a site would receive prominent exposure through this site and be promoted as a the place from which the aforementioned designs should be purchased.

The asking price also includes a visit to the buyer's premises in order to provide any first-hand assistance they may request.

Significant Growth Potential
In its current state, the business offered here is quite capable of profitably supporting one full-time worker. Given that no attempts have been made to directly market the engines to model shops, schools, or promote them through other media, the potential for growth is huge.

If just a quarter of all the model/hobby stores in the USA carried one unit of stock, and if just a fraction of high-schools in the USA purchased an engine and the unique documentation that is included for use in science classes, the turn-over could be increased five or ten-fold in a very short space of time.

The Asking Price
As anyone who's tried to build one from scratch will tell you, the design and development of pulsejet engines is not as simple as might first appear. While it's not too difficult to build an engine that will make noise and heat for a short while, designing an engine that is powerful, reliable and relatively efficient is a major challenge.

The engine designs included in the business sale are the result of a significant period of research and development which has involved an investment vastly exceeding the price being asked.

I am selling the business as a going concern (ie: exclusive property rights, relicensing rights, website presence, pending orders, etc) for just US$12,000, a mere fraction of the amount I have invested to date. Given the size of the market, the quality of the designs, the level of after-sales support offered, and the fact that a proven sales-channel and good number of sales inquiries are included, this is an extremely modest price which reflects my desire to get back into pure R&D as soon as possible.

Why Bother?
Given that there is clearly a strong demand for pulsejet engines amongst hobbyists, enthusiasts and others, one might ask "Why bother buying this business? Why not just start your own? There are plenty of free plans out there aren't there?"

There are several answers to this question...

  • Although there are many existing pulsejet engine designs available, and many of them can be freely download from other websites, these are almost all smaller, older engines for which there are no continued development programs or technical support.

I've been acknowledged as a world-leader in the design and development of pulsejet engines and my resources will be available on-call to whoever buys this business.

The larger size, more efficient designs and greater durability of the engines offered as part of this business have been key factors in generating sales. These are the first engines in half a century to include revolutionary advances such as the unique direct fuel-injection, throttling capabilities, "stacked" multi-plate valve-retainer and BlastRingTM technology I've developed.

  • Even if you were to build other designs from older plans, you'd still need a way of marketing your product to customers. This website has become a very popular location for prospective pulsejet purchasers and is highly ranked in all the search engines. As a result it gets over 10,000 visitors a month and this results in a good stream of orders.

Many hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars worth of effort have been put into creating and maintaining this website to the degree that it attracts such a large number of visitors, so anyone else trying to duplicate such a presence could easily spend as much -- with no guarantees of equal success.

One of the most valuable elements of the business being offered here is the steady (and growing) stream of orders that come with it. This will leave the buyer free to focus on manufacturing rather than having to search out customers. In fact, this business comes complete with a list of people just waiting to place their orders.

  • In short, you are buying an established, profitable business which is the dominant player in its marketspace It has proven designs, strong turnover, significant growth potential, and a highly effective marketing presence on the Web.
