Million $ Ideas
At last, the contents of Aardvark's "million-dollar ideas" notebook are revealed for all to see!

Pssst... wanna make a quick dollar or two?

Well a growing number of "entrepreneurs" believe they've developed a formula for doing just that.

I try to keep a regular eye on eBay's business auctions, they're a pretty good indicator of how stupid many people are, and I see that despite the dot-com bust, there are still a number of people in the shrink-wrapped online business game.

Sounds great doesn't it -- wander off to eBay, place your bid, and walk away with a ready to run online business that "Is Ready To Make You Money!".

But how, at a time when so many well-funded, professionally run Net-based businesses are collapsing, can it be so easy to make a profit? And why would someone want to sell something as rare as a money-making online business?

Have Your Say

Well I think you've probably twigged to the fact that someone's being more than a little economical with the truth.

Take this ad on eBay for example.

Lots of promises, plenty of hype, a convincing page of spin -- but what's the reality?

A visit to the site in question reveals that what's on offer is nothing more than a rather ugly collection of freely available third-party information services and plenty of affiliate schemes.

Careful wording in the eBay ad makes it sound like a goldmine -- but in reality you'd probably receive absolutely zero cash from this site.

The seller of this site appears to be trying to build a thriving little enterprise by rolling out a raft of different "cobbled together" shrink-wrapped sites and flogging them on eBay.

I would not be surprised if he's also done a deal with some of the affiliate organisations that appear on these sites (or is acting as an intermediary) so not only benefits from the sale of the sites but also gets a residual from any revenues they earn (unlikely as this might be).

At least a few of the guy's customers are less than happy. The user feedback page contains comments from those who finally realised what they were getting for their money was virtually worthless:

  • A COMPLETE SCAM!!!!!The websites are free this guy should be banned. BEWARE!!
  • Seller sold me this video game store which is free on the internet
What's even more disturbing though is that a fair amount of the user feedback is positive. People have not only parted with their hard-earned cash but actually think they got a good deal and are going to make money from these lame sites!

Is it any wonder that there is so many "get rich quick" schemes on the Net when there are people prepared to believe anything you tell them?

Why Online Advertising Is In Trouble
While browsing the Net this morning I thought I'd click on one of those lovely banners and do my bit for the ad-industry.

Maybe this is why the ad industry is having such trouble attracting advertisers and earning money!

Looks like someone's pony-tail got stuck in the expresso machine again eh?
