From: Brett Moore For : The Editor (for publication) Subj: Noteworthy Points Similar to the code red attack, I have been able to detect an infected computer, notify the owner and all is well. This service would be deemed illegal under the new laws, hurting only me and the owner of the infected computer. Everyone should realise that because there is a law in New Zealand to prevent this 'scanning', it is of no concern to a hacker either overseas or in New Zealand. With the option of using unlimited hop points to mask their original ip this law really does nothing to help secure New Zealand. No in regards to the IDG story, I regard it as very unprofessional. Why name names?, Why print default usernames and passwords? The only reason been to glamorise this type of activity. How many kids (many from St Kents, whom already have notebooks setup to access wireless) will be driving up and Queen Street today?. Well Done! Now Have Your Say
