Subj: Time to stop spam....

I guess that in today's world, the only way to stop this
crap mail from turning up constantly is to band together
and complain to the ISP's who are (knowingly or un-
knowingly) providing these people with a means of
distributing their spam.

I received the same message in three of my mailboxes this
morning (and last night) and I've about had enough. It's
not bad enough that I have heaps of legitimate mail to get
through, but then to have to wade through this crap as
well.....

I think perhaps we should all bill the spammer for the time
lost in dealing with his/her rubbish. Perhaps then they'd
think about what they're doing? (although I doubt it)

A similar case was successful a few years back when someone
took a telemarketing firm to small claims court, after
repeated attempts to get them to stop calling. A momentary
victory for the sane! Yay.

I think it's only a matter of time before someone jumps on
the opportunity to 'take' a spammer for time loss, and I
eagerly await that day.

On another note (still spam), I recently received mail from
the new Noel Leeming web site informing me of all their
wonderous deals etc. Not at any stage did I register for
mail updates with that site. I elected to remove myself
from the list and was informed (via a lovely page telling
me so) that I had been successfully removed from their
(spam) mail list.

So bugger me if I don't get another one today. I plan to
make a phone call today to ensure that I voice my
displeasure at not being removed when I asked to, and also
for the fact that I was added without my consent and/or
knowledge.

Noel Leeming is on my 'no buy' as of today. Perhaps if more
people take this stance they leave us to make our own
decisions, rather than spam us with junk.

Subj: Lymree spam

Well, its looks like I was one of the unknown number of
other local Net users to get that spam. I got mine around
midday Sunday and promptly emailed abuse@clear.net.nz, and
at this time I haven't recived a response from Clear either.

I do like your payback idea, poetic justice it would seem. :-)

You should be happy you got a response eventually. After trawling through
some logs, I noticed many attempted (and of course failed) connections to
the windows sharing port (samba) on my gateway.

Many of these were even paradise IPs, so being a good customer, I thought
i would inform them of this, I sent about 3 emails containing times and
IPs of these paradise IPs who had some form of worm, and never got one
single response. Needless to say, I have since changed providers to a
cheaper ISP who provide much better support.

Subj: Lymree.co.nz. spam

Point to note is that the html email sent uses the standard
hidden form field for the to address, allowing other
spammers to spam from the lymree mail server.
