From: Dave Blyth For : The Editor (for publication) Subj: HOT for 2003 Whoever is brave enough to combine a PC, CD, DVD and TV together with a 300W+ 5 channel amp and sub should be a winner. The Linux guys will hate it, but, Windows Media Player is so far ahead of any CD player and XP is getting so user friendly. I see the winner being Microsoft and taking over where "old firms" like Sony, Panasonic, Philips are now. Let's face it - How many out there listen to and watch more music on their PC now than their stereo? Really, a $3000 laptop with DVD plugged through an amp and hooked to a big screen is the ultimate at the moment, but combined with your TIVO deal it's even better. From: Jason For : The Editor (for publication) Subj: Digital Sources come of Age Enjoying the digital video exploration. Commercial systems have been around for more than 10 years now and I suspect that we are now getting the volumes that make sense for price slips now. Good to see the video series. Have you noticed that the music companies seem to have finally got the penny drop on all that video music archive around. I have just been enjoying my 30 song, + interviews from Jools Holland Later live music Tv series and thoughly recommend DVD as "the" music format. for my $30-$37 ave I got 170mins of songs (nearly 7GB of data) Ideally what we want is a rich experience and I often play music dvds' on audio only. More and more music companies are offering DVD extras and good to finally see some of the better compilations becoming available. I've thought about transferring the best bits of my 400+ audio CDS to an IPOD but not convinced that the file formats are as good as what I have at present and I still like the extra info - but once I can get IPOD in the car at a reasonable price I will revisit that one.Hit Reload For Latest Comments
