Subj: On the List

As one of, probably, hundreds of businesses that received a
temporary free listing with this "prestigious" search
engine, (which we were informed of with their free spam!),
we decided to take a look at the On the List website.

After giving ourselves a maximum rating, as you do ;-), we
noticed that as soon as a competing business came along and
voted for themselves, they would give us a minimum rating
for good measure.

Notwithstanding the inherent flaws and ease with which
anyone can get around the voting system, it's interesting
to note that some of On the List's paid subscribers are
locked on high rankings.

Also, up until 5.30pm they still don't seem to have
corrected any spelling and grammatical errors. How
prestigious can they be if they don't visit the Aardvark
site on a regular basis? ;-)

As it's not worth the bother of contacting them to be
taken "Off the List", we'll just let our rankings slowly
fade into oblivion, while continuing to perform well in the
many bigger, better, professionally run, (and free), search
engines available.

Subj: Maxnet deals with flak

Dear Peter (Aardvark Says: Peter???? Who the hell is Peter?)

Your article mentions three incidents of spam originating
from customers hosted on the Maxnet network.

At the time of publication of your article Maxnet had or
was in process of investigating and dealing with each of
the incidents.

Maxnet acted on each incident resulting in one warning, one
suspension of mail services and the forced the removal of
all services to the third customer.

The spamming incidents each arose from customers hosted by
our wholesale customers.

As a result of this increased spamming activity we have
tightened our spam response policy and will be
communicating with all our wholesale customers on the issue.

Maxnet are committed to the eradication of spam.
