Subj: HOW MUCH?!?!?!

Good lord!

I was reading along there and then saw the figure and
actually choked on my coffee!  A co-worker in aseked me if I
was alright and (between splutters) I pointed to the screen
- he read along and then got to "the figure" and promptly
burst out laughing.

4 million (Oz) dollars?  This is just another prime example
of how civil servants blithely throw away as much of the
taxpayer's extortioned earnings as fast as they can.

What a shame this news is too late to be an April Fool's
joke on the poor Australian taxpayer.

Now if I could just get a contract like that, I could retire
for a while...

hi,
    my sister pays around us$20/year for her web site:
us$10 to http://www.discount-hosting.com/ for 50mb of space
and 5gb/month traffic; (approx) us$10 to
http://www.stargate.com/ for her .com domain name.

she has had things set up for over a year now, and not had
any problems with the quality of service. if you shop
around and pick  sensibly (ie, avoid ridiculously cheap
offerings) it is quite easy to put together a cheap and
reliable package - she uses her site mostly to host ebay
auction images, where reliability is paramount.

as for aus$4,000,000 - surely you could buy a complete
hosting company for that!

Subj: Walker Wireless to build national network

Excuse my cynicism but are we soon going to be saying the same things
about Walker Wireless that we say now about Telecom? I hope not.
