From: Bruce For : The Editor (for publication) Subj: Should we trust the IRD? No we shouldn't. We must watch them as closely as they watch us. I am reminded of an incident a few years ago when I shared a flat with an attactive young lady. The sort of lady who gets the attention of young men when whe walked into a bar. They would be get her phone number and a few dates before she moved on to the next conquest. Well one day, after an enjoyable night out, one of these new guys phoned her up to wish her happy birthday for the next week. It seems he worked at the IRD and had looked her up on the computer. When I suggested that he now knew more about her financial history than any of her close friends or family, she told him where to go. So as long as people work there, they need to be of the highest standards and instant dismissal for even the slightest breach. Any proven complaint about over enthusiastic behaviour by IRD staff should see them down the road immediately From: Chris For : The Editor (for publication) Subj: Not just NZ IRD that has problems Have you seen this report? http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=9831 Seems as though the NZ IRD is in good company. From: Stewbaby For : The Editor (for publication) Subj: IRD Standards are slipping... I used to work in the team of people who devised and implemented the strategies to stop these faux pas from happening. About 6 years ago, we were "outsourced" and cast aside as chaff from the wheat. IRD... what happened? Procedures and Policies not working now? I guess this is what happens when the "dedicated group of people who genuinely care" are replaced by contract nine to fivers who couldn't give a s$%t. And ye shall reap what ye have sown (ha ha). From: Bob For : The Editor (for publication) Subj: Lax IRD computer security . . . so everyone should now phone IRD (0800 377 774) and ask to see the personal information they are holding about you. As is you right under the Privacy Act 1993.Hit Reload For Latest Comments
