UK Mainstream media in its death throes

11 August 2025

Ever since the internet became a ubiquitous piece of communications technology, allowing every-day people to share their thoughts and perspectives, the mainstream media (MSM) has had its days numbered.

From those early days where yours truly was threatened for daring to link to the websites operated by media properties such as The Nando Times, the MSM has been mis-handling the situation and digging its own grave.

Since then, revenues of most of the daily newspapers and TV news broadcasters has fallen, now to the point where some are facing an existential threat due to their inability to adapt.

Perhaps the biggest single threat to these established news broadcasters and publishers has been the rise of social media platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and the like.

With the popularity of these platforms, citizen-journalists have taken over and deliver news, views and opinions that are more timely, more relatable and often even more accurate than the MSM.

Sure, there is still plenty of disinformation and misinformation to be found on the internet -- but then again there are many who would argue that the bulk of misinformation these days originates in the spin-departments of government and not within the ranks of the public.

Some of the most infuential forces on social media right now are the growing number of livestreamers, people who get out and about, on the scene with smartphones and realtime connections to YouTube. They go where the news media fear or choose not to tread.

The perfect example of this is the situation in the UK right now.

Throughout England, a growing number of fed-up citizens are rallying against the effects of illegal immigration.

This past weekend, as on other weekends of late, many, many thousands of Brits have been out in the streets waving the George Cross and Union Jack flags while demanding that illegal immigrants should be deported rather than housed in four-star hotels at taxpayers' expense.

If you were to rely on MSM such as the BBC you'd think that this was nothing more than a few disgruntled trouble-makers in a few isolated towns but when you look at the coverage produced by livestreaming citizen-journalists from right across England, the reality becomes much different.

Livestreamers have noticed (backed by the evidence of their videos) that the pro-immigration protesters seem to feature many of the same faces, right across the country. It's been found that a great percentage of these left-wing activists are being directly funded to attend the anti-immigration protests and present a strong counter-protest.

On the right it appears that those waving the flags are genuinely concerned locals from each venue, worried that their women and children are at risk from violent and sexual offending by unvetted and illegal immigrants (almost entirely young men) who are being housed within their communities.

On the left there are a much smaller number of counter-protestors who are being bussed around the country and paid good money to disrupt the protests of the locals by shouting slogans such as "Nazis off our streets" and "immigrants are welcome here".

When attempts are made to interview this lefty rent-a-mob, the response is to push placards in the face of those attempting the interviews and in the case of the few MSM reporters that turn up, even assault them.

It is easy to see that there are "organisers" within the lefty mobs who make sure nobody amongst their hired army breaks with the rules and dares to speak to livestreamers or the media. Those who start talking are quickly ushered away by these organisers.

This is pretty scary stuff -- yet the MSM seem oblivious to it all and appear to be downplaying the scale and scope of the situation.

And thus, the MSM continues to dig its own grave because the public are not stupid.

To show just how badly the MSM in the UK is suffering at the hands of social media, the BBC has gone to Ofcom (the regulator) begging them to force YouTube to promote the national broadcaster's own content -- along with that of other MSM broadcasters.

Just read this self-serving piece from the BBC.

News just in for the BBC: You can't regulate public opinion or public preference -- you have to earn the public's respect by doing a proper job and you have failed... in an epic fashion.

The UK public has grown tired of the BBC's coverage of events in the wake of numerous scandals and poorly concealed bias. They now trust each other -- in the form of citizen journalists, livestreamers and others who use social media to provide hands-on, realitime, uncensored access to events as they unfold.

Viva la revolution!

Carpe Diem folks!
