Since there are no earth-shattering headlines worth discussing today I thought I'd take the chance to mention a number of items that have been drawn to my attention recently.

First-up, there's a new book on the market that should be a part of every Net-business's library but, due to its high price, I doubt it will be.

I refer to "internet.law.nz - selected issues", (ISBN 0408-71650-9) a textbook authored by David Harvey, a well known expert on the subject of NZ Net law.

Described as a volume that "places a New Zealand law focus on internet legal issues but draws sustenance for many of its conclusions from what has been happening in other jurisdictions" it carries a price tag of $120 but, given its limited market and the amount of work that must have gone into it, this is probably not an unreasonable charge.

Yes, at last, this feature has been updated again! (31 Mar 2003)

The obvious question however, is: when will the CDROM version become available? Surely, given the field it addresses, an easily searchable electronic version would be a great idea -- and possibly a cheaper way to distribute this worthy tome.

Moving on -- I've covered a number of matters relating to mobile phone networks and equipment of late, and these columns have produced a raft of feedback.

If you're interested in more info on these topics then a truly exceptional local site can be found at www.geekzone.co.nz -- go check it out!

Finally, and in response to a pile of complaints from regular fans of the section -- here's the return of an old favourite:

    Lighten Up
It's Friday the 13th and there's a full moon. What better time to introduce a little levity and lightheartedness into the week.

Wake up all you fans of spam and scams -- it's the 3rd Annual Nigerian EMail Conference so don't miss it.

Here's the perfect solution for a problem that has plagued the parents of young children for years -- baby puke. Yes, now you can get PEP's Reflux Reducer.

And another from the "thump a scammer" department, here's the diary of a Kiwi company who were the attempted target of a rather nasty scam.

Finally, here's a site for the army of unsung heros who make our lives tolerable. I refer, of course, to the huge number of "domestic executives" who now have a website they can flock to.

That's it for another week -- remember to keep those Lighten-up suggestions rolling in for next week.

If any Aardvark readers have an opinion on today's column or want to add something you're also invited to chip in and have your say.

    Yes, You Can Donate
Although the very kind folks at iHug continue to generously sponsor the publication of Aardvark, the bills still exceed the income by a fairly significant amount. It is with this in mind therefore that I'm once again soliciting donations from anyone who feels they're getting some value from this daily column and news index. I've gone the PayPal way of accepting donations because the time involved in processing a bunch of little credit-card billings sometimes exceeds the monetary value they represent. Just click on the button to donate whatever you can afford. NOTE: PayPal bills in US dollars so don't accidentally donate twice what you were intending :-)
