What's God's IP Number? 20 August 2004 Edition

Does God exist? And if he does, what's his IP number?

Regardless of the answer to these questions, there are sure a lot of people promoting him on the Net.

A google search for "God" returns over 58 million matches, starting with an interview with the almighty.

I haven't been able to track down God's IP number but I see that he does have a few domain names registered around the world including God.com God.co.uk

A little closer to home I see that god.co.nz has been registered but there's currently no website associated with this domain (check back in seven days perhaps?)

Of course not all religions use the Net in a positive way and we know how the Scientologists continuously seek out and persecute those who would say bad things about them online.

Now have your say

While you're here, why not visit the Aardvark Hall of Shame and perhaps make your own nomination.

Certainly if religion is your bag, you'll find the Net to be a wealth of information, disinformation, argument, debate and conflict - and that's got to be a good thing.

As for me - well I choose to reserve my decision on the question of God.

Having been visited by just about every religion on the face of the planet since shifting house, I have to say that none of them have come up with a truly convincing argument or the facts to back up their claims.

They keep talking about having "faith" and I'm afraid that I need a little more evidence than what amounts to a compilation volume of chain-letters claiming to be from a bunch of God's disciples.

But my mind is not closed and I have spent many interesting hours chewing the fat with those who come knocking on my door. Baptists, Jehovah Witnesses, etc, etc -- they're all welcome to pitch their beliefs and I'll happily listen and ask the questions they can't seem to answer without falling back on the need for "faith". However, if God comes down and gives me a one-to-one or provides some other indisputable proof of his existence then I'll be standing in the queue for heaven like everyone else. I'm not holding my breath waiting though.

Besides, I believe that if there really was a God and he loved all his children then there would be no such thing as spam.

Lighten Up
Time for some of the more interesting, eccentric and humorous material you'll find on the Web.

Hands up all those who remember the good old days? Well here's a little bit of nostalgia to help you remember just how bad those good days were.

And here's what happens when someone has way too much time on their hands. Anyone for a Floppy disk striped raid array?

Now come on folks -- the Lighten-up bin is bare! Fire your favourite links off right now.

Yes, You Can Gift Money
I've published this website for the past nine years as a service to the local internet and IT industry and during all that time it has been 100% free to access.
